Margaret Kasahara, MA
Manager of International Student Services
Margaret Kasahara joined Soka University of America, Aliso Viejo in November 2000 as the Assistant to the Dean of Academic Affairs. She moved over to the Office of Enrollment Services at the beginning of 2001 and was then promoted to Manager of the Office of International Admission and Student Immigration Services in July 2001. Margaret now serves as the Principle Designated School Official at Soka University of America, taking care of the international student population on campus. Her primary responsibilities are to provide international students visa support and assistance in maintaining their legal non-immigrant status. Prior to joining Soka, Margaret worked as a translator and editor for the SGI Newsletter in Tokyo, Japan for nearly five years.
Margaret received her MA degree in International Relations from Soka University, Japan, and her BA degree (summa cum laude) in Journalism and Mass Communication from New York University. Margaret also holds a Certificate of Completion of Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain.
Margaret is a native speaker of English and Japanese and is proficient in Spanish. Margaret is a member of the Kappa Tau Alpha Honor Society which awards excellence in scholarship and professionalism in journalism and mass communication. She also holds membership in the following professional organizations - NAFSA: Association of International Educators and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
Margaret resides in the city of Aliso Viejo.
