Executive Assistant to the President
Hiro Sakai joined Soka University of America in September 1993 as Admissions Director/Registrar and as the Instructor of Japanese for the University's Japanese Language Center at SUA, Calabasas. He assumed the position of the Assistant to the President in September 1995 and moved to the SUA, Aliso Viejo office.
Sakai's responsibilities include local and international coordination, translation and liaison work on behalf of SUA's President along with technology consultation and administration.
Prior to joining SUA, Sakai was a Coordinator of Japanese Language and Culture Programs at the State University of New York at Buffalo. His responsibilities there included teaching and coordinating the courses of the Japanese Language and Culture to undergraduate and graduate students and local business people. Sakai supervised all other instructors, selected and organized a short-term language exchange program with a Japanese university, and provided support for the Office of International Education exchange program with Japanese colleges and universities.
Sakai holds a BA from Soka University of Japan.
