Duration:
  • Spring Semester: Late February - Mid June  

  • Fall Semester: Late August - Mid December  

Overview:

  • Salamanca is described by many as the ideal study abroad location because of the outstanding academic possibilities at the Universidad de Salamanca, assorted cultural opportunities, and proximity to the capital city of Madrid. It is one of the most magnificent renaissance cities in all of Europe. Salamanca was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 and a European City of Culture in 2002. The city is small enough to navigate by foot. Sandstone colored buildings fill the city, earning Salamanca the nickname of La Ciudad Dorada (The Golden City). Salamanca has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate, with cool winters, and warm dry summers due to the altitude.

  • Cumulative GPA-  2.5
Academics:
  • This program is for all students from beginning to advanced. 

  • Soka Students are required to attend two tracks at each semester: One Month Intensive (March/Sep) and Trimester Spanish Language & Culture.

  • Trimester program offers several content courses for intermediate and advanced level students designed only for international students.

  • All the courses are taught by host university faculty

  • Volunteer at a local public bilingual school. Semester students can integrate themselves in the Salamantino community by participating in the Salamanca Volunteer Teaching Certificate Program.

Field Trips:
  • 4-5 field trips. Fall participants will meet in Madrid to attend an ISA orientation and then go to Salamanca. Spring students must directly go to Salamanca for an ISA orientation and once the March Intensive is over, they will travel to Madrid to meet the rest of the ISA Spring group for the city tour.   
Housing:
  • Homestay - Students typically share a bedroom with another ISA student.

  • Host family usually has no Wi-Fi access at home .
