Soka University of America is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator – Employee Relations. The Coordinator provides support to the Director of Human Resources for compliance and employee/employer relations. The Coordinator will conduct new employee background checks, support and coordinate immigration processes for new employees, manage the faculty home loan process, publish faculty and staff handbooks and policies, coordinate staff and faculty training and manage the staff annual performance appraisal process. 

Candidates should have:

EDUCATION:

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of two years administrative work experience in Human Resources.
  • Some higher education experience preferred.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

  • Experience with PeopleSoft/Oracle HRMS or other HRMS/HRIS required.
  • Knowledge of performance management systems including disciplinary actions and promotion proposals.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and make recommendations within Human Resources.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills both in person and by phone.
  • High proficiency in personal computer systems utilizing databases, word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and other Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to independently write general correspondence and reports.
  • Strong skills in proofreading and editing. Must be detail-orientated.
  • Ability to maintain accurate filing system and records.
  • Capacity to work well independently and with a team in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and exercise diplomacy and discretion.
  • Ability to maintain multiple priorities, projects and adhere to stringent deadlines.
  • Demonstrate understanding and sensitivity regarding diversity, cultural traditions, language barriers, and multicultural issues.
  • Capacity for developing and sustaining effective relationships with administrators, faculty, staff and students.
  • High ethical and professional standards.
