Adjunct Instructor - Literature

Soka University of America (SUA) seeks a part-time/adjunct instructor to teach, one course, LIT 140 Introduction to Literary Studies during the Fall 2017 term. Position begins in September, 2017. Applicants with PhD in Comparative, National or Regional Literatures and teaching experience preferred. ABD candidates in Comparative, National or Regional Literatures will be considered. Salary commensurate with experience.

Course Description:

The aim of the class is to introduce students to the techniques of literary analysis while enhancing their experience of reading. By exposing students to texts from different genres (poetry, prose, drama) and the specific interpretative tasks they present, the class seeks to engage students with the precariousness and promise of meaning as it circulates through traditions, conventions, ideologies and  institutions. By enabling students to structure significant interpretative encounters, the class is to supply foundation for future coursework in literature and humanities. The class meets Tuesday and Thursday, 10:10 -- 11:40 a.m.
