ESL Instructor

Contract dates: June 6, 2017 – Aug. 2, 2017

Programs: The SUA English Language Programs offer intermediate to advanced level ESL programs of various lengths and intensity.

Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to the following:  1) classroom instruction (two ninety-minute periods of Academic Speaking and Listening (advanced level) per regular work week), 2) hosting 1 office hour per week, 3) keeping daily records related to attendance & grades, 4) promotion and realization of the university mission and English Language Program objectives, 5) supporting academic orientations, 6) attending a completion ceremony, and 7) other work-related duties, assignments and projects, as assigned by the Director of the English Language Programs.

Classes are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:15-2:45pm.  

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be of advanced English proficiency, have an MA in TESOL or closely related field, and have 3 years of full‑time teaching experience in ESL/EFL. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching overseas and expertise in the following area(s): Composition, Grammar, Peace Education, Conversational English, and English for Academic Purposes.  Special considerations might be made for highly recommended recent TESOL MA graduates looking for an entry-level summer position.   Note: Some cross-training will be provided for this position.

Total Compensation: $1,046 (depending upon experience and qualifications).

Location:  Aliso Viejo, California, about 1 hour south of LAX and 1 hour north of San Diego; about 20 minutes from beaches, beautiful & natural surroundings
