Adjunct ESL Instructor

Programs: The SUA English Language Programs offer intermediate to advanced level ESL programs of various length and intensity.
Responsibilities: The candidate hired will be capable of teaching intermediate to advanced level ESL courses, especially related to grammar, composition, literature, academic speaking and listening etc. The faculty member filling this position must minimally be present in school 8:30 a.m. ‑ 4:30 p.m., 4 days a week (or a 5-day week with two ½ days of off campus office hours). Classes normally run from about 8:30am to 2:45pm. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, hosting office hours, developing curriculum, promoting and realizing the university mission and program objectives, preparing for classes, proposing and planning educational field trips and activities, escorting students on field trips, facilitating placement testing, participating in committee work, contributing to faculty meetings and other related duties. Occasional weekend and evening work may also be necessary.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have native or native‑like proficiency in English (Nonnative English speakers with a high proficiency in English are encouraged to apply), an MA (minimum) in TESOL or closely related field, and 3 years of full‑time teaching experience in ESL/EFL. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching overseas and expertise in the following area(s): Composition, Grammar, Reading, Academic Vocabulary, Academic Discussion, Speech and Debate, Peace Education, English for Academic Purposes and Computer-Assisted Language Learning. Salary: Monthly salary of $3,300 to $4,400, depending upon experience and qualifications.
