Telecommunications
Soka University is equipped with a state-of-the-art voice communication infrastructure. Phone services are available to all students on campus and each dorm room is wired for voice, data and cable television.
Students who choose to subscribe to Soka University’s on campus phone services are provided with a private long distance authorization code and monthly billing statements. Phone service features include voice mail, call waiting and competitive long distance and international rates.
Local voice services are provided by Cox Communications.
Network and VOIP systems are provided by Cisco Systems.
Soka University provides cable television feeds to every dorm and classroom on campus. There are over 50 channels of programming ranging from local news and entertainment to international and foreign language selections.
Cable television services are provided by Campus Televideo.
Cable television programming provided by Dish Network, DirecTV and SCOLA.
Cable
SUA provides 56 cable channels to all dormitory rooms and classrooms. Cable channels include 3 language stations (Japanese, Chinese and Spanish)
Network
Soka University has built one of the largest data networks in Orange County. Each floor of every building is linked to the data center via Gigabit Ethernet uplinks. All dorm rooms are wired with multiple voice, data and cable television jacks for use by students around the clock.
Wireless access is available in numerous locations on campus and all student laptops are equipped with wireless antennas. Secure communications are in place to ensure that all data and personal information traveling across the wireless LAN remains private.
Internet access is available to all students and while on campus. While there are no limits on the use of available 4.5 megs of internet bandwidth, certain services are guaranteed to have a minimum performance level and security measures are in place to ensure safety and privacy.
Internet services are provided by Cox Business Services and COVAD Communications.
