Gigi graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a Master’s degree in Kinesiology. A standout jumper in high school, she went on to compete at Rick’s College in Rexburg, Idaho and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. While at Rick’s college, she was a finalist at the NJCAA nationals in the triple jump and was equally successful at Cal Poly placing 3rd in the Big West Conference 2 years in row.
She began her coaching career at San Luis Obispo High school where she coached the jumping events. She then went on to coach at Allan Hancock Community College in Santa Maria, CA. Following her move to Orange County, she began working for the Scott Boras Corporation coaching professional baseball athletes in strength and conditioning.
In 2006 she made a return to track and field and came on board at Soka University to assist with building the young program. In 2009 she became the head coach of Cross Country and Track and Field specializing in the sprint and hurdle events. The program at SUA has grown tenfold since its inception in 2003. Soka Athletics became a part of the NAIA in 2007 and has since had 5 NAIA National Qualifier’s and 2 All-Americans, including one 6 time qualifier and two time NAIA All-American. She currently resides in Oceanside California with her husband Jonathan.
Patrick Boivin comes to us from California State University, Chico where he was an athlete, then coach for the previous 8 years. During his time as an athlete he was a 4 time All-American for the NCAA Division II Cross Country Team. He also helped his team to 4 straight top 5 finishes at the NCAA Championships. He was also a 2 time national qualifier in track in the steeplechase and the 5000 meters. During his post collegiate time he continued running as a member of the Transports Adidas Racing Team based out of Oakland, CA and has improved many of his personal records while doing so and hopes to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon for 2012. During his coaching at Chico State, Patrick helped guide numerous All Americans in both cross country and track.
