Recent Highlights: October    In what could be described as the most significant win in the history of  the SUA Men's Soccer Program, the Lions defeated La Sierra at home last weekend.  Avenging last year's loss to La Sierra, SUA dominated the match from the opening kickoff, eventually securing the 4-1 victory.

SUA senior Peter Karuppiah played 83 solid minutes in his long-awaited return from a torn ACL to give the Lions a big lift.  His experience was one of the keys to the win.  Coach Cano said of Karuppiah, "his defending and possession of the ball was outstanding - it provided offensive opportunities for the team.".  Junior Ichiro Kobayashi also gave an outstanding performance.  Kobayashi netted 2 goals in the match, one of which Coach Cano described as "one of the best goals at any level of this game!"  He shot it from 22 yards out with a full-turn side volley right into the side of the net. Coach Cano continued to rave about Kobayashi's 2 goals, saying "they were astounding for him!"  SUA freshman Marco Timm also showed that he will be a force to be reckoned with when he scored the opening goal for  SUA with a diving header after beating 2 defenders and the goal keeper.  Timm later scored another memorable goal to close the scoring and put the match away.    The victory was a solid defensive effort for 90 minutes by the entire team.  Coach Cano commented that SUA dominated the game from the first minute to the last. "I am very proud of my boys!"

This Friday both the men's and women's squads go on the road, traveling to Orange to take on Chapman University.  They have been training very diligently and are ready to take on this NCAA Division III opponent.  "They are one division up from us but we are ready to take on the challenge, and it will make us stronger."-Coach Cano

Recent Highlights: August/September     The men had a rough start this season losing to Hope International (tied 0-0 in overtime) and undefeated San Diego Christian (1-2 in overtime).  Nonetheless, goalkeeper sophomore Tim Sasser and junior Ichiro Kobayashi played a fantastic game.  Freshman Gabe Chagolla scored SUA's only goal against San Diego Christian with an impressive free kick.

The men scored their first win of the season at home against Trinity International 1-0 in overtime.  Sophomore Victor Lindstrom had a great diving header to seal the win for SUA!

Next, they will face Biola University who are undefeated and ranked in the top 15 teams in the country.  Good luck and stay strong!
