Located in the very heart of the nation's foremost track scene, Soka University's initial focus is recruiting the caliber of student athletes capable of competing with the nation's finest competitors. By training in one of the world's finest environments for the sport, in a climate enabling year-round outdoor training, we provide a setting that will enable our student-athletes to reach their personal and team goals as intercollegiate students.
The weather is also favorable for serious year-round training. In the summer, the temperature only occasionally rises above mid-80 degrees with relatively mild humidity. In the winter, temperatures remain mild, with highs in the upper 60's and low 70's.
The Track and Field teams focus on relationships and teamwork. Not only do we strive for each athlete to reach their potential, but also to build lasting relationships during their time here. These relationships are the foundation of our success because everyone wants to do well for each other and not just individually.
Aside from training, the student athletes will have the opportunity to compete in some of the nation's most prestigious competitions each week. The schedule is chosen to facilitate the best possible competitions and exposure to various high caliber athletes and teams. With hundreds of the world's finest athletes training and competing in Southern California year-round, student-athletes will line up next to world-class athletes several times per year.
Soka University student-athletes also have the opportunity to compete in various size meets and invitationals in an attempt to provide as many diverse competitive opportunities as possible.
The Track and Field Complex is one of the few in the entire nation devoted exclusively to the sport; a European style set-up designed to maximize training efforts and competitive excellence. Spectator views, wind direction and a multitude of factors were all considered as part of the design of the facility, and it ranks among the finest in the region and the country.
