The Vagina Monologues

Performance dates April 16 (8-10 pm) and April 17 (6-8 pm) in Soka University's new Black Box Theatre (just south of new Performing Arts Center)

Benefit performance to support Women and Girls of Haiti and ICNA Relief USA.

On April 16th and 17th, a group of young women from Soka University of America will be performing playwright and activist Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues in support of V-Day, a global, non-profit, activist movement to raise awareness and end violence against women and girls. Through benefits of The Vagina Monologues, all proceeds from admissions will be donated to women's anti-violence organizations and resource centers. This year, all proceeds from our production will go to support the Women and Girls of Haiti as well as ICNA Relief USA. 

The Vagina Monologues was first drafted in 1996 by Ensler as a collection of monologues inspired by 200 women she interviewed to explore their intimate experiences and views on sex, relationships, and violence against women. The original purpose of the piece was to celebrate vaginas and femininity but soon transformed into a movement to stop violence against women and girls. Since its production, The Vagina Monologues is performed annually throughout the nation, at hundreds of college and university campuses as well as in over 130 countries. Please join us for an evening of women empowerment—be inspired, moved, and encouraged by real women's stories of intimacy, vulnerability, and sexual self-discovery. This production is primarily student-run, student-acted and student-directed.
