About the Artist:
Ron Chilcote earned his MA and PhD at Stanford University and is currently a Professor at the University of California for a continuous 48 years. He is a internationally respected lecturer and authority on Latin American studies. His images emphasize the hills, the canyons, and the waters of an area extending from Aliso and Wood Canyons to Laurel and Little Sycamore Canyons that run into Laguna Canyon and on to Bommer and Shady Canyons to the north and Emerald and Boat Canyons to the west.
The same area in impressionist images are depicted on Ilfachrome and polaroid prints. They are created through manipulation of the emulsion soon after the image is exposed, and in some cases painted over. Several images were taken where renowned plein air artists painted scenes during the early 20th century.
