- Join us on Monday, November 19th at 4:45 p.m. in the Black Box Theater in Maathai Hall for a presentation/workshop by acclaimed musical ensemble Bali & Beyond. Described as “delicate, insistent, irresistible” by the Los Angeles Times, Bali & Beyond offers an exciting foray into Bali with stunning musical examples and informative discussions of Balinese music and culture, gamelan instruments, musical styles and learning techniques. Music director Cliff DeArment will also lead participants in learning Kecak monkey chant, the simple rhythmic patterns which interlock to produce one of the most dazzling world music events.
