Soka Performing Arts Center Presents

Muriel Anderson and Tierra Negra

Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 8:00 PM

One of the world's foremost fingerstyle guitarists and harp-guitarists, MURIEL ANDERSON is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. An engaging performer, her obvious joy of music, humor, and facility across genres of folk, classical, jazz, bluegrass and international music is revered by guitarists and audiences worldwide.

In the world of modern Flamenco, few artists have attained the heights of TIERRA NEGRA. In fact, so influential are these two German guitarists that they're often cited as the protagonists of Flamenco Nuevo, the new wave. This dynamic duo may infuse their sound with elements of folklore, jazz and even pop, but the theme never strays far from the infectious rhythm and melody of Rumba-Flamenco.

The music between Muriel and Tierra Negra, a fusion of Americana-Bluegrass and Rumba-Flamenco, has been coined "New World Flamenco."
