In May of 2009, 8-year-old piano prodigy UMI GARRETT appeared on NBC’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show. It was such a sensation that her young career has since skyrocketed, receiving requests to perform worldwide and appearing regularly with symphony orchestras in the United States and around the world. Umi resides in Southern California, and speaks both English and Japanese. When not practicing or performing, Umi enjoys playing with her friends, going to school, drawing, going to museums, watching movies, listening to music and traveling.
This past November, Steinway & Sons named Umi one of their Young Steinway Artists. This program confers upon a select group of talented musicians the distinction of affiliation with the Steinway Artist family, and access to the worldwide resources of Steinway & Sons and its exclusive network of dealers. Umi is one of just 67 young pianists named a Young Steinway Artist.
Please join us to welcome this tiny superstar and be wowed by an unforgettable performance!
