Three Different Opportunities to Participate!
Chamber Music OC provides residents of Southern California with world-class chamber music performances presented by rising stars and established veterans in the classical music world. They also strive to make the benefits of music more accessible and approachable for the entire community.
On December 2, 2015 Trio Céleste Presents: The Elements of Music. Join Trio Céleste as they explore how the three elements of music - melody, harmony, & rhythm - work together to form a masterpiece! This interactive event will shed light on the diverse characteristics of these elements through a wide variety of musical demonstrations. Participants will be able to join the trio onstage to experience these elements up close!
On February 3, 2016 Trio Céleste Presents: What is Chamber Music? In an ever-changing world that seems to be more and more focused on technology and digitization, has the role of acoustic music-making become irrelevant? Join Trio Céleste as they demonstrate how one of the most human forms of artistic communication is alive and well in the art of chamber music! Discover what makes this form of music-making one of the most satisfying to experience as both a performer and as a listener.
Here are a few of the comments made by parents and students attending the outreach event on February 3rd with Trio Celeste:
On March 23, 2016 Trio Céleste Presents: Discovering Emotion in Sound. How does a composer express their emotions through music? How are these emotions conveyed through sound? Trio Céleste will explore some of the techniques used to achieve emotional expression, and will present a final performance based on the interpretation of the music according to the audience! Join the ensemble in this one-of-a-kind performance collaboration!

Join Ken Waldman, Alaska's Fiddling Poet, on a journey from Soka University to Nome, Alaska, and back. A former college professor, Ken Waldman is a writer with eight books and a fiddler with nine CDs—including two for children. Combining toe-tapping Appalachian string-band music with original poetry and Alaska-set storytelling, he's delighted audiences since 1995. A visitor to over 200 schools in 34 states, his interactive school shows are full of surprises, and include lessons in music and geography as well as in writing. Students will leave with poetry bookmarks, poetry postcards, and if they bring paper and pencil, the beginning of their own poem.
