2016-17 Sundays at Soka with Pacific Symphony Series

These 70-minute, informal concerts by the Pacific Symphony are perfect for newbies to the classical music scene. Conductor Carl St.Clair discusses the works being presented for a friendly environment of listening and learning. This season will feature Beethoven’s five piano concertos, as well as the Triple Concerto.

Pacific Symphony with Fei-Fei Dong on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 3 p.m.

Praised for her “bountiful gifts and passionate immersion into the music she touches” (The Plain Dealer), Chinese pianist Dong was a finalist at the 14th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. She continues to charm audiences with her “winning stage presence” (Dallas Morning News). Program: Beethoven – Piano Concerto Nos. 1 & 4.

Pacific Symphony with Sean Chen on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 3 p.m.                 

Hailed as a charismatic rising star with “an exceptional ability to connect with an audience combined with an easy virtuosity” (Huffington Post), 27-year-old American pianist Chen was third prize winner at the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in addition to other awards. Program: Beethoven – Piano Concerto Nos. 2 & 3.

Pacific Symphony with Joyce Yang on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 3 p.m.

Van Cliburn International Piano Competition silver medalist and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient Yang captivates audiences with her virtuosity, lyricism, and interpretive sensitivity. “Her attention to detail and clarity is as impressive as her agility, balance and velocity” (Washington Post). Program: Beethoven – Piano Concerto No. 5 Emperor.


Current Package Holder Renewals begin on May 9.

Current series package holder renewals will begin on May 9, 2016 using our online renewal system. Current package holders will receive a special renewal email notice with instructions and a link to renew their current seats. Current package holder seats will be held for renewal until July 6, 2016. After that date, seats that are not renewed will be released for general sale. Click here for renewal instructions.

Online Package Sales for new package subscribers will begin on June 6.

New series package requests will begin on June 6, 2016. An email notice will be sent out to all Soka Performing Arts Center patrons just prior to that date.

Package Sales end the day of the first performance in the series. At that time you may Create Your Own Series with these and other events.

Single-Event Tickets go on sale July 6.

Tickets for individual events (Single-Event Tickets) will go on sale July 6, 2016. At that time, you may purchase any or all of the individual performances.
