These 70-minute, informal concerts by the Pacific Symphony are perfect for newcomers to the classical music scene. An audience favorite, conductor and music director Carl St.Clair brings his vast knowledge of musical history to life with both his comments and baton. This season Pacific Symphony will highlight masterworks of Mozart, Vivaldi, and Beethoven for a lovely Sunday afternoon of great music and historical storytelling.

Pacific Symphony Plays Mozart—the Final Concertos

Principal clarinetist Joseph Morris won first prize in the Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition and the Hennings-Fischer Foundation Competition. Benjamin Pasternack entered the Curtis Institute of Music at the age of thirteen and was the Grand Prize winner of the inaugural World Music Masters Piano Competition held in Paris and Nice in July 1989. Program: Mozart—Clarinet Concerto and Piano Concerto No. 27.

Grammy-nominated Russian-American violinist Philippe Quint is lauded for his “searingly poetic lyricism” (Daily Telegraph, UK). His impassioned musical desire for reimagining traditional works and commissioning new works, his dedication to exploring different styles and genres, and his award-winning discography has solidified him as one of the foremost violinists of today. Program: Vivaldi—The Four Seasons.

Jo-Michael Scheibe chairs the Thornton School of Music’s Department of Choral and Sacred Music at the University of Southern California, where he conducts the USC Chamber Singers and teaches choral conducting and choral methods. He is currently the vice president of International Affairs at the American Choral Director’s Association. Program: Beethoven—Symphony No. 9.

Current series package holder renewals will begin on May 9, 2017 using our online renewal system. Current package holders will receive a special renewal email notice with instructions and a link to renew their current seats. Current package holder seats will be held for renewal until June 6, 2017. After that date, seats that are not renewed will be released for general sale. Click here for renewal instructions.

Online Package Sales for new package subscribers will begin on June 13.

New series package requests will begin on June 13, 2017. An email notice will be sent out to all Soka Performing Arts Center patrons just prior to that date.

Package Sales end the day of the first performance in the series. At that time you may Create Your Own Series with these and other events.

Single-Event Tickets go on sale July 11.

Tickets for individual events (Single-Event Tickets) will go on sale July 11, 2017. At that time, you may purchase any or all of the individual performances.
