2018-19 Sundays @Soka with Pacific Symphony Series

These 70-minute, informal concerts by the Pacific Symphony are perfect for newcomers to the classical music scene. An audience favorite (having sold out all three concerts last season), this series has become a wonderful tradition, showcasing Orange County's own professional symphony orchestra in a way not seen at other venues. This season will introduce Pacific Symphony's new concertmaster and showcases works by Mozart, Schubert, and Chopin.

Meet Pacific Symphony's New Concertmaster

Pacific Symphony’s new concertmaster, Dennis Kim, will lead the orchestra in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, which will also feature principal violist Meredith Crawford. Considered “one of the most successful concertmasters in the world today,” (Royal Conservatory of Music) Kim was most recently concertmaster of the Buffalo Philharmonic. Principal Trumpeter Barry Perkins will be featured on Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto.

Maestro Carl St.Clair explores the beauty and complexity of Schubert's Symphony No. 5 and Chopin's Piano Concerto in F Minor. While both composers were of a similar era (early-nineteenth century), their styles were in stark contrast to each other. Winner of a 2018 Avery Fisher Career Grant, 24-year-old American pianist Drew Petersen will solo on the Chopin.

Maestro Carl St.Clair continues his exploration of the works of Schubert and Chopin. Program: Schubert—Symphony No. 8 “Unfinished” and Chopin—Piano Concerto in E Minor with Conrad Tao who is acclaimed as a musician of “probing intellect and open-hearted vision” (New York Times).

Current Package Holder Renewals begin on May 8.

Current series package holder renewals will begin on May 8, 2018. Current package holders will receive a special renewal email notice with instructions and a link to renew their current seats. Current package holder seats will be reserved until June 5, 2018. After that date, seats that are not renewed will be released for general sale. Online Renewal Instructions

Online Package Sales for new package subscribers will begin on June 12.

New series package requests will begin on June 12, 2018. An email notice will be sent out to all Soka Performing Arts Center patrons just prior to that date.

Package Sales end the day of the first performance in the series. 

Single-Event Tickets and Create Your Own Series packages go on sale July 10.

Tickets for individual events (Single-Event Tickets) will go on sale July 10, 2018. At that time, you may purchase any or all of the individual performances. You may also Create Your Own Series by selecting four events from our Season calendar.
