On Saturday, May 1, 2010, Soka University will celebrate the 9th annual International Festival from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. Enjoy over 700 musicians and dancers performing on three stages and over 150 non-profit, craft and business exhibitors! The 2010 International Festival will again be part of the Orange County's Imagination Celebration, presented in cooperation with Arts Orange County and the Orange County Department of Education. We are grateful to our Presenting Sponsor, The Orange County Register, which will once again print and insert the Festival Program in its pages two weeks before the festival. There will be lots of international food, exhibitors, games and activities, an art exhibition, ceramic sales and demos, a children's play area with Superslide and Bounce House, student project presentations--- and much more!
Admission is FREE for everyone! Parking is $10 on campus and we ask that you carpool and have cash available for parking fees -- we do not take credit cards. Directions to SUA.
Registration is now open for exhibitors and entertainers.
The deadline for registration for non-profit, business, craft and art exhibitors who wish to be in the program is April 1, 2010. The program will be published in mid-April as an insert in the The Orange County Register. Non-profit agencies may reserve a table space with a 6' table and 2 chairs for $35 to host an approved fundraising game, food or other sales or activity. Businesses and crafters may reserve a table and 2 chairs for $125. Canopies ($35) and electrical access ($35) may also be reserved. Food may only be served by non-profit groups or SUA Student Clubs, although either group may partner with a restaurant. Non-profits serving food are responsible for submitting county health permit waiver requests. All exhibitors are asked to provide their own tablecloths and extension cords (if electrical is requested.) Contact Wendy Harder at (949) 480-4081 or info@soka.edu if you have questions. Confirmed exhibitors are listed on the exhibitors page, so you can always check your status. This IS YOUR CONFIRMATION! Here's a map of the festival layout and locations of stages, parking and shuttle stops.
Volunteer international musicians or dancers are encouraged to by filling out the International Festival External Performing Group Sign Up 2010. Soka University student performing groups should register by filling out International Festival Student Performers Sign Up 2010.
Performers (see who has performed in the past!) receive a complimentary festival t-shirt and one free parking pass for every four performers (please carpool). Contact Lisa Lu at lu@soka.edu or (949) 480-4083 if you have questions.
Volunteers are also needed to help keep the festival running smoothly. Volunteers working at least a two hour shift receive free parking and a festival t-shirt. You can volunteer by emailing your contact information and preferred shift time to info@soka.edu.
Sponsor and banner opportunities are available for the 2010 International Festival.
If you have not had the opportunity to visit our campus and you would like to do so before the festival, please note that we have regular tours at 10 am and 2 pm Monday-Friday and we’d be delighted to show you our campus.
Please feel free to contact me at info@soka.edu or (949) 480-4081 if I can answer any questions.
