Athletics at Soka
Our Mission
To provide a platform to promote our student-athletes’ growth in becoming global citizens through sportsmanship, community outreach, and the competitive experiences found within intercollegiate athletics.
Compete with purpose.
Lead with courage.
Athletics develops character alongside physical strength. As a student-athlete at Soka, you’ll discover that competition teaches lessons you’ll use throughout your career — how to work with teammates from different backgrounds, how to stay focused under pressure, and how to bounce back from setbacks.
The discipline you develop in training and the leadership skills you build through team challenges prepare you for whatever path you choose after graduation. Whether you become a diplomat, teacher, or entrepreneur, you’ll carry the resilience and collaborative spirit that competitive athletics builds.
Our Teams
Our Lions compete in the NAIA as members of the Great Southwest Athletic Conference and Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference. 20% of Soka’s 450 students are student-athletes. At a university this size, coaches know your strengths and help you improve your weaknesses. In each sport, you’ll practice the values of wisdom, courage, and compassion that guide our community.
