Eligibility Requirements
Both scholarships require applicants to:
- Be a graduating SUA student in the current academic year
- Have been accepted to a graduate school program
- Plan to begin their graduate program in the fall of the current year
Lei Loi Tak Scholarship only — must be enrolling full-time at one of the following partner institutions:
- Claremont Graduate University (CGU) — MA, MS, or MBA programs
- Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies, University of San Diego (USD) — MA or MSc programs
Selection Criteria & How to Apply
One Application, Two Scholarships: A single Qualtrics application is used for both scholarships. Eligible students will automatically be considered for both awards. Applicants should update their status (if needed) to ensure the selection committee has accurate information.
Awards are based on:
- Academic merit
- Service to SUA and its mission
Grant applications do not open until March with a May 1 due date
After You Are Awarded
- Submit proof of graduate school enrollment to Arch Asawa, Executive Vice President for Finance & Administration
- SUA will send a check made payable directly to the graduate institution upon receipt of documentation • Authorized use of funds includes: tuition, room and board, institutional fees, books, supplies, equipment, and transportation.
- If, for any reason, a recipient is unable to complete their first year of graduate studies, they will be required to return the full $10,000 to SUA.
