Graduate School
Graduate School Support
Soka prepares you to keep going. Whether you’re headed to a master’s program, a PhD, or still weighing your options, we have advisers, partnerships, and funding to help you get there.
Accelerated Masters Programs
Take courses at Soka that count toward or prepare you to earn master’s degrees at University of San Diego’s Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies and Claremont Graduate University.
Graduate School Advising
This program supports students interested in continuing their education after SUA. Services include assistance with researching graduate schools, review of CVs and personal statements, and group workshops. Reach out in your first year at Soka to start developing a plan for applying to master’s programs. Professor Diya Mazumder is the graduate adviser.
After Soka: Scholarships to Support Graduate Education
Most universities consider their job done at graduation. Soka doesn’t.
Two merit-based scholarships help graduating seniors fund their first year of graduate school — at whatever program they’re headed to next. It’s a deliberate extension of Soka’s commitment to your education beyond the four years you spend here.
Graduating SUA students who will be attending graduate school the following fall may apply for these two scholarships:
- The Makiguchi Memorial Educational Fund Merit Scholarships award $10,000 to students who will be attending graduate school this fall.
- The Dr. Lei Loi Tak Scholarships award $10,000 to students who will be enrolling full-time at one of the following partner institutions:
- Claremont Graduate University (CGU) — MA, MS, or MBA programs
- Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies, University of San Diego (USD) — MA or MSc programs
A limited number of scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit and service to the University community. The scholarships must be used toward the first year of graduate studies in the academic year after graduation. View additional details about these scholarships and apply now →
