When you support Soka, you’re funding more than education—you’re funding solutions. Our 450+ undergraduate and graduate students from more than 35 nations study global challenges and prepare to solve them. Every gift you make sends another global citizen into the world.
What that looks like
- Building peace: Irina Punga ’10 is a program management officer at the United Nations Mine Action Service, striving to create a world free from the threat of landmines.
- Addressing inequality: Prakash Bista ’17 founded two schools in rural Western Nepal that provide housing for 32 orphans and serve about 300 students, many of whom would not otherwise have the opportunity to go to school.
- Protecting human rights: Monserrat Sepúlveda ’13 is a specialist on gender, disability, and inclusion at UNICEF, working to empower women and disabled people in Somalia.
- Taking environmental action: Dominic Goshert ’17 conserves endangered species in Hawaii as a botanical monitoring specialist at the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands.

With classes averaging 12 students, faculty provide close mentorship while students tackle difficult topics together, learning to resolve conflict through dialogue.
