Sonwabile Mafunda, PhD
About Me
Professor Sonwabile Mafunda is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Soka University of America, USA. In this role, he contributes to the university’s Teaching and Learning, Research and Scholarship, Academic Service and Citizenship (including, but not limited to academic committees, Advising and Mentoring) activities.
He lectures a wide range of mathematics courses.
His research focuses primarily on graph theory, with particular interests in distance measures in graphs and digraphs, algebraic properties of graphs such as automorphism groups and symmetry-breaking parameters, and the interplay between graph theory, algebra, and cryptography.
Professor Mafunda is also a Research Associate in the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. In this role, he voluntarily contributes to the department’s Research and Scholarship activities, in particular Supervision of (Post-)Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows, and supports Academic Service and Citizenship initiatives.
