Dr. Jacqueline M. Mills, MD MPP is a physician whose career spans clinical medicine, global health policy, and management consulting. A graduate of Soka University of America (BA, International Studies, 2008), she earned her Master of Public Policy and Certificates in International Development Policy and Global Public Policy from Duke University in 2010 and her MD from Boston University in 2018. She trained in obstetrics and gynecology at Boston Medical Center.
Her professional experience includes roles with the Sabin Vaccine Institute, Physicians for Human Rights, Physicians for Social Responsibility, Industrial Economics, Inc., and the World Health Organization. As a consultant with Boston Consulting Group, she supported the global health and social impact portfolios, advising clients such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the WHO on strategy and implementation.
As one of the first Sohokai (Soka University of America’s alumni association) physicians, she returned to her alma mater in 2022 with a strong commitment to fostering a steady stream of global citizens dedicated to a contributive life within the domain of clinical health and global policy—especially in alleviating physical suffering and helping humanity flourish beyond mere physical health, in line with the World Health Organization’s definition of health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
Her confidence in the potential of Soka students and alumni is grounded in first-hand experience with their intellectual rigor, cross-cultural fluency, and commitment to service—qualities fostered by the university’s philosophy of education as articulated by Daisaku Ikeda. She teaches courses in International Studies and Life Sciences as well as in the General Education curriculum, and has mentored capstone students in International Studies, Life Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Humanities concentrations. Her past publications include work on maternal and perinatal health research during emerging epidemic threats, cervical cancer screening policy, and socially responsible surgery.
