Research. Advocacy. Community Partnership.
SHARP prepares students to advance health equity through research, education, advocacy, and community-engaged scholarship. Students collaborate with community partners to develop evidence-informed programs while gaining experience in project development, research, communication, and public health practice.

Tracks

  • Youth Health Track
    • Partner with the International School for Science and Culture (ISSAC) to promote health literacy through hands-on education and mentorship.
  • Older Adult Health Track
    • Partner with local senior living communities to promote healthy aging through wellness education, community engagement, and aging research.

Open to 2nd–4th year students from all concentrations.

Immersive Clinical Experience at Ochsner Health
Spend 8–10 weeks in New Orleans shadowing physicians, participating in research, attending grand rounds, and learning directly from clinicians.

Participants receive funding for airfare and housing.

Career Development Office

The Career Development Office partners closely with Health Professions Advising to help students identify internships, prepare application materials, and develop professional skills. Services include: resume reviews, cover letters, interview preparation, internship searches, LinkedIn support, and networking strategies.
