First-year Orientation

During their first week at Soka, students attend a session to begin their exploration of what it means to be a global citizen. The session is followed by an off-campus service activity where students learn about the social issues in Orange County and serve the community in partnership with a local organization.

The Lion Hearted Program

Soka student-athletes strive to live out the values and mission of the university not only in the classroom, field, pool, and track, but they also make the time to serve the community. Through the Lion Hearted Program, student-athletes have various opportunities throughout the year to get involved in service activities both as a sports team and as an athletic department.

Alternative Spring Break

A service-learning program for students to explore social issues through meaningful service, education, and reflection during their academic breaks. Soka’s Alternative Break program places a team of college students in a community to engage in community service and experiential learning during their spring break. Students perform short-term projects for community agencies and learn about issues such as literacy, poverty, racism, hunger, homelessness, and the environment.
