Katherine M. King joined Soka University of America, Calabasas in April 1991 as Office Manager. She assumed the position of Human Resources Manager in 1994. She was promoted to Director of Human Resources in July 2001 and Vice President for Human Resources and Risk Management in July 2017. In July 2022 she was appointed as the Executive Vice President for Campus Community. Her responsibilities include oversight of the university’s Student Affairs, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, Risk Management, Student Employment, and Title IX.

King holds a BS in Business and Management from the University of Redlands. She is also a graduate of the Japanese Language Institute at Soka University of Japan. King is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) by the Human Resource Certification Institute, King completed the Advanced Program in Human Resources Management at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. King has also earned the HR Generalist Certificate and the Diversity Management Certificate from the Society of Human Resource Management, the Advanced Certificate in Employment Law from the Institute for Applied Management and Law, and the Certificate in Internal Investigations from the Council on Education and Management and George Washington University. King is a member of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR), the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA), the American Payroll Association (APA), and the University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA).
