Thankstaking

The title “Thankstaking” comes from a popular social media hashtag coined by Native Americans to highlight issues like land theft, the exclusion of critical history in schools, and the removal of Native Americans in the United States. During this enlightening gathering, students, staff, and faculty are invited to delve into the true history of Thanksgiving and its significance to indigenous peoples. Participants have engaging talks in which they explore diverse perspectives on the holiday and its portrayal in modern society.

These events outside the cafeteria highlight observances such as Bisexuality Awareness Day, International Pronouns Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Mother Tongue Language Day, and Ramadan. These initiatives have allowed our community to engage with the meaning and significance of these commemorations.
