Galaxies and Nebulas (Observatory) by Mark Okuda '24

Mark Okuda ‘24 participated in Professor Bryan Penprase’s Astronomy Learning Cluster (January 2021). The images of galaxies and nebulas were both remotely taken from the Nieves Observatory at SUA and the Las Campanas Observatory in Chile.  

 

Centaurus
Centaurus A is a galaxy in the constellation of Centaurus.

The Carina Nebula is a large, complex area of bright and dark nebulosity in the constellation Carina.

 

orion nebula
The Orion Nebula (also known as Messier 42, M42, or NGC 1976) is a diffuse nebula situated in the Milky Way, being south of Orion’s Belt in the constellation of Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae, and is visible to the naked eye in the night sky.
