SUA offers an advanced program in Buenos Aires through IFSA.
Location
Located in northeastern Argentina, Buenos Aires is the cosmopolitan capital city with nearly three million residents.
Art and Culture
The “Paris of South America,” Buenos Aires is a hub for art and culture. The city has the biggest live theater industry in Latin America and the most plays each weekend in the world.
Architecture
With a strong European influence, Buenos Aires’ architecture strongly resembles that of Madrid and Paris with a mixture of eclectic and traditional buildings.
Phenomenal program! I don’t think a study abroad program can be more comprehensive than that.
IFSA Advanced Program
This is an advanced program which allows students to cross-register among four Buenos Aires universities: Universidad Católica Argentina, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad del Salvador, and Universidad Torcuato DiTella.
Program Characteristics
The fall semester takes place from mid-July to late November. The spring semester starts in late February and ends in late June.
- 2.5 GPA
- Four semesters of university-level Spanish
An advanced level of Spanish is required; students are allowed to take university courses with locals. All university classes are taught in Spanish and integrated with full-time local students, except one IFSA required language/culture course with IFSA students. Challenging courses with 2-3 homework a day. However, IFSA provides extensive academic support with advising and tutoring.
You may take a three-day excursion to a destination such as Colonia or Montevideo, Uruguay or Rosario, Argentina. Music concerts, theatrical productions, rugby and soccer matches, Argentine film screenings, urban biking and canoe trip, tango classes, polo demonstration class, and museum tours may also be available.
Students will live with a carefully selected Argentine host family. IFSA houses up to 2 students per family for maximum cultural and language integration.
