SUA offers a study abroad program at Universidad de Barcelona through Worldstrides. This program is suited for students from beginning to advanced language levels.
Architecture
The Basilica de la Sagrada Família is one of the most iconic examples of Antoni Gaudí’s unique style, combining elements of Art Nouveau, Catalan Modernism and Spanish Late Gothic design. The theme of nature can be found throughout Gaudí’s designs.
Food
Paella is a classic Sunday lunchtime meal, designed to be lingered over with friends and family. Students enjoy a cooking class making this classic Spanish dish.
Sports
The Catalan capital of Barcelona is home to FC Barcelona. Barça is one of the most popular and successful football teams of all time. The city has a rich football culture. Enthusiastic locals, as well as visitors from all around the world, fill the streets, bars, and stadiums to celebrate the national sport.
Program Characteristics
The Fall semester is from early September to mid-December. The Spring semester is from mid-January to early May.

Study alongside fellow international students in courses taught by local UB faculty, all while engaging with the intellectual energy of one of Spain’s top research institutions. Participate in a university environment that blends academic rigor with civic engagement, fostering close ties between students and the community.
Two options
Homestay: Students typically share a room with an Worldstrides roommate. Breakfast and dinner are included seven days a week (except for Worldstrides excursion days). Laundry service is once a week.
Residencia: Students typically share a room with an Worldstrides roommate. Kitchen is shared by two to 10 students, depending on residencia availability. Residencias are not located on campus but in the city center. Coin laundry is available onsite.
Visit the various beaches (platjas) in and around the city; tour the many world famous museums; and explore the various bustling markets of Barcelona.
